Surfware, Inc. is pleased to report a productive and successful week from the recent and bi-annual International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS 2012) which took place at the McCormick Place in Chicago, IL from September 10 - 15, 2012. This world renowned trade show again confirmed, that customers agree that SURFCAM is recognized worldwide as one of the most affordable and easy-to-use CAD/CAM software solutions in the market today. As part of this 6 day trade show that attracted 100,200 visitors from around the world, attendees were able to see SURFCAM 6 in action in three different booths throughout the week. For SURFCAM 6 software demonstrations, attendees were able to visit the SURFCAM booth and interact with members of the SURFCAM team to answer questions and learn about this latest release. Additionally, at the C.R. Onsrud and Swiftcarb booths, visitors were able to see 'LIVE' machining demonstrations highlighting 5-Axis Simultaneous machining and TRUEMill tool engagement milling.
Visitors to the SURFCAM booth noted this year’s theme to "Fly with SURFCAM 6" – to soar above their competitors with SURFCAM 6’s new features, functionality and ease-of-use. As part of the theme display in the SURFCAM booth were two fully functional model jets, courtesy of BMV Jets (www.bvmjets.com). These one of a kind, remote controlled jets were proudly designed and displayed as "Manufactured in the USA” using SURFCAM CAD/CAM Software. 'LIVE' machining demonstrations took place in the C.R. Onsrud, Inc. booth for visitors interested to see SURFCAM 6’s 5-Axis Simultaneous Machining capabilities. It was "No Monkey Business” in booth #S-8980. CAMcad Technologies, 2011 SURFCAM North American Reseller of the year, in cooperation with C.R. Onsurd, Inc. demonstrated a complete “American Solution” on a F148HM25H2 Model Dual-Head Onsrud multi-axis CNC machine, cutting two completely separate 5-Axis parts, simultaneously side by side on separate tables with amazing efficiency and accuracy.

For visitors interested in reducing cycle times, increasing material removal rates and cutting tool life, Surfware, in cooperation with SwiftCarb demonstrated 'LIVE’ machining of parts in Titanium, Stainless Steel and Aluminum on a Haas VF-2SS using patented TRUEMill toolpath technology together with RampMill’s in the SwiftCarb booth (#W-1670). Visitors to this booth witnessed how TRUEMill’s tool engagement controlled toolpaths used in conjunction with SwiftCarb RampMill’s enabled a Haas VF-2SS CNC machine to ramp and rip through each part being cut at record breaking speeds and feeds. Superior Machine Inc. was founded in 1994 by Harry Dudeck Jr. as a small job shop in northern Indiana. As a patternmaker by trade (specializing in models, fixtures, and machined components), Dudeck envisioned a shop that would be able to be versatile enough to machine all types of materials while servicing the automobile industry as well as developing consumer products. This flexibility requirement prompted Superior Machine to seek a CAD/CAM system that was up to the challenge.
Superior Machine found this flexibility shortly after opening shop and receiving a demonstration of SURFCAM by Jay Schaumberg, SURFCAM Reseller Online Resources in Lebanon, Indiana. “SURFCAM proved to be easy to use and also enabled us to go from material to material, project to project, without any difficulty or down time at all,” says Dudeck. “In our day to day work, we practically use all of the milling and turning features in SURFCAM as well as the custom tool template functionality to take advantage of our own machining preferences. Also, the seamless integration with SolidWorks and SURFCAM saves us a lot of time and allows us to work directly with the SolidWorks file. One of the most recent benefits added to our existing seats were the “3-axis Multi-Cut” tool path strategies. This single option in 3 axis machining has saved numerous hours in machining and provides additional efficiencies when machining our aluminum molds.”
Recently, Dudeck also formed HD Design LLC, a design company that markets and sells consumer products. With HD Design, Dudeck has been able to begin manufacturing consumer products and market them directly to customers. The types of products that are offered include custom shifters, engine covers, and the unique TRIBAL iPhone cases. “We owe a great part of our success of the release of our TRIBAL iPhone cases to SURFCAM. SURFCAM CAD/CAM systems has made it possible to manufacture and sell these “one of a kind” aluminum billet iPhone covers to our growing customer base.
“We have had great success with SURFCAM in our shop over the years and would like to thank all the guys at Online Resources for excellent customer support, and Surfware for a great product! Keep up the great work!”
