Surfware signs licensing agreement to offer SolidWorks "Parts Design Only" to SURFCAM Users
Press Release
February 15, 2005
Westlake Village, CA – February 15, 2005 - Surfware, developers of SURFCAM CAD/CAM Systems, recently
announced that SolidWorks® software Parts Design Only (PDO) is now available at no additional cost to all eligible
SURFCAM users. Surfware recently entered into an OEM licensing agreement with SolidWorks that bundles SolidWorks PDO
with SURFCAM. This is the full working product as sold by SolidWorks, excluding the assembly and drafting functionality.
"This relationship pairs the respective industry leaders of CAD and CAM," said Domenic Lanzillotta, Vice
President of Sales at Surfware. "The timing of this partnership is optimal as the 2005 release of SURFCAM features
all new Parasolid®istered; associativity."
SURFCAM incorporates complete SolidWorks interoperability to accelerate the design to manufacturing process.
This powerful associativity enables users to open native SolidWorks files directly into SURFCAM, thus completely
eliminating the translation process. SURFCAM automatically recognizes any design revisions in the solid model and
regenerates only affected toolpaths. With this seamless interoperability, SURFCAM users can easily adapt to downstream
design changes
"We are extremely pleased to team up with the world’s leading solid modeler," continued Lanzillotta, "The
pairing of SolidWorks PDO and SURFCAM offers a powerful and comprehensive design to manufacturing solution."
